How we teach maths

Hello and welcome to maths at Whaddon School.

On this page you will find useful advice about how we approach maths at Whaddon and how you can best support your child at home. Please spend time reading the documents and contact us if you have any further questions.

Below is a link to a video explaining our maths approach. This video was made with EYFS parents in mind but is mostly suitable for all parents, wherever their child is at Whaddon.

Please see below some documents to help you understand maths at Whaddon and so understand how to better help your child with their maths.

The first two documents show the information given at the Maths Parents' Workshop during July 2019.

The third document contains information on the maths facts your child will learn during their time at Whaddon, progressing from Foundation Stage to Year 3. Details of the facts your child will be learning each term are available on the Class pages. This document also contains mathematical vocabulary and questions that, when practised at home, can significantly enhance your child's understanding of maths.

Please speak to your child's teacher for any further information. They will be happy to answer any questions you may have. Further information specific to your child's maths will be given during Parent Teacher Interviews.

**Read from page 10 onwards for the maths vocabulary document.**
