Curriculum Overview

A personalised curriculum for Whaddon School has been developed through a topic-based approach where several subjects are linked through a common theme.  This provides an exciting and meaningful curriculum that meets the individual needs of our children.

All children study the core and foundation subjects of the National Curriculum plus Religious Education, with the emphasis on literacy, mathematics and science.  Schemes of work are based on the National Curriculum Key Stages 1 and 2 and the Foundation Stage Curriculum for Reception.  Our aim is to achieve breadth, balance, continuity, progression and mastery.

There are links to useful parent films and information leaflets under maths and english to help you to understand the approach we take when teaching these subjects and the methods your child will learn.

We also run parent information sessions in the Autumn term on phonics and reading and mathematics.

In the Summer term, the children bring their parents to school for the morning so you may take part in lessons and deepen your understanding of the teaching and learning that takes place.
